A three-month-old baby boy tragically died after he was believed to have suffocated when he got pinned under his father’s arm at their home in Jalan Perigi Hang on June 19.
The incident happened around 9:30 AM and was discovered by the baby’s mother, Azura Abd Malek Yaher, who had just come home from work to take her youngest of three kids, Muhammad Nur Daniel Nurul Effendy, for a vaccination at the clinic, according to Sinar Harian.

“I never thought our baby’s final moments would be with him.”
Azura said she was shocked when she got home and found her baby under her husband’s arm. Her husband, Nurul Effendy Ibrahim, was unconscious at the time.
She rushed both of them to the Emergency and Trauma Department at Melaka Hospital, but sadly, her youngest son didn’t make it and was pronounced dead during treatment.
“I was shocked because there was no sign of blood. When I entered the bedroom, I saw both of them on the bed unconscious. At that moment, I found my husband unconscious and our baby under his arm. The baby was still alive but very weak,” said Azura.
Azura, who works as an admin assistant at the Historic Melaka City Council (MBMB), said it was her first day back at work after three months of maternity leave.
“I never expected that to be our final goodbye. I accept this as fate. My late husband wanted to find the best babysitter, but I never thought our baby’s final moments would be with him.”
Her husband died from a heart attack
Meanwhile, Bukit Katil Fire and Rescue Station Operations Commander, Senior Fire Officer II Mohd Supian Md. Dali said they received an emergency call from the hospital at 9:58 AM.
He added that they were told the 35-year-old man had died at the scene, believed to have suffered a heart attack, while the baby passed away during treatment at the hospital.
“The team carried out an inspection of the house to check for any gas leaks, but further investigation found the man likely died from a heart attack, so the Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) team assistance was cancelled,” he said.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. We hope they find the strength to get through this incredibly difficult time.
