The actions of a soldier who displayed a photo of himself while in uniform at a nightclub in Kuala Lumpur have attracted widespread attention. The photo is believed to also feature the Engineering Corps logo in the background, and was displayed on the nightclub’s main screen.
According to a report by Malaysia Gazette, an investigation by the authorities has identified the individual as a private from the 7th Squadron of the Royal Engineers Regiment (RAJD) from the Pahlawan Desa Camp in Kelantan.
It is understood that, at the time of the incident, the soldier was taking the Class 1 Combat Engineering Course at the Army Field Engineering Institute (IKEM).
The photo was detected at around 8pm on Monday (June 2), before the Kluang Provo Corps branch (CPK) managed to track down and arrest the soldier at 11pm on the same day. He has since been taken in for further investigations.
The authorities have since also seized an iPhone 11 for further investigations, which confirmed that the soldier in question was on weekend leave starting May 30 to June 2 when the photo was displayed.
It was also revealed that the photo was displayed in conjunction with the anniversary of his relationship with his partner, who is a transgender woman.
