The founder of the wellness centre, who had closed down ALL outlets in Malaysia, has responded to the news about customers being left with unclaimed massage packages totalling RM500,000.
In her Facebook video, Ivy broke the silence to assure the concerned customers that this is nowhere near a scam or money game. Ivy, the founder of 38 Wellness & SpeedRelax, admitted her mistakes and apologised for leaving the customers hanging, but assured the public she is still around to sort out the matter.
She also explained what led to the downfall.
“We ran out of funds as quickly as our business expanded”
In just two years, the business expanded to 28 outlets across the country, including Johor, Selangor, Penang, Malacca, and Kuala Lumpur. At its peak, the wellness centre also saw a major increase in customers, which led to additional outlets and the hiring of more workers.
And that was the problem.
Ivy said that each payment from a customer was used to serve existing customers, but that was not all.
“We did not scam your money. They were used for maintenance, utilities, and the employees’ salaries.”
Ivy also admitted to receiving funds from different investors, but the cash flow was spent on renovation, buying additional equipment, and conducting training for the employees.
Unfortunately, the rapid expansion met with management issues, the place encountered problems with cash flow when the quality of the service declined, which prompted customers to leave negative feedback online.
Ivy also said she had difficulty paying rent since January this year.
“We’ll return your money, whatever it takes”
Ivy said she understood how the customers felt right now and assured them that she would not run away.
“The company is still here, I am still here. We are still looking for new investors at the moment.”
As for the customers with unclaimed massage packages, Ivy has left a Google Form link for them to fill in their details, and Ivy promised to get back to them within 30 days.
“Regardless of how many years it will take, I will do my best to return your hard-earned money.”
What do you think of Ivy’s take on the matter?
