In a viral Threads post, the woman, who is currently undergoing her internship, said that her father has secured a position for her once she completes her training, adding that she would make up to RM4,000.
This means she will make more than her boyfriend, who is working in the food & beverage industry.
“We’re saving up for the marriage, and I do see the chances of increment for him. It may not be up to RM3,000, but my parents are not fond of this relationship. They said our salaries are not on the same level.”
The woman also admitted that despite making more than her partner and having a degree certificate, it has never been an issue for her, and she has never seen him as less than she is.
However, with her parents standing in between the relationship that could bloom further, the woman took her dilemma online and sought the public’s opinions.
At the time being, the woman is thinking of protecting the relationship, and she is trying to do so without hurting anyone’s feelings.
“This relates to religion too. I know we should listen to our parents, but is there no way to protect this relationship without being an ungrateful child?”
“On my side, the majority of people are advising me to cut this relationship off. It feels like I’m going against the world,” the woman expressed.
Dear ladies, do your partners’ salaries play a huge role in your decision-making? Would you bless your daughter’s relationship if she is earning more than the man?
