Civil servants in Selangor might be getting additional “duit raya” from the state government this year.

The “duit raya” refers to the additional Special Financial Assistance (BKK) 2 for all state civil servants, including State Assemblymen (ADUN). Menteri Besar of Selangor, Datuk Amirudin Shari, said the matter would be brought up for discussion in the upcoming State Executive Council (MMKN).

“MMKN will consider giving out Raya money, which we call the special BKK2,” Amirudin said during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (DUN) recently.

At last year’s Selangor Budget 2025 presentation, Amirudin announced that Selangor state civil servants would receive a two-month salary bonus paid in stages. The first month was paid on 31 December 2024, and the bonus for the second month is scheduled to be disbursed on 25 March 2025 in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration.

Female civil servants may get to go home early

The monetary aid was not the only surprise Amirudin had in mind. The Selangor State government is also considering letting female civil servants leave work early during Ramadhan, which will also be discussed during the meeting with MMKN.

This is to allow them to handle family matters at home during the Holy Month.

“For now, the working hours we have set are sufficient for them to work and return home. We will see if it’s necessary to allow them to go home early.”

“We are also considering flexible hours — if they leave early, they must also arrive early to ensure productivity is not affected while allowing them the opportunity to fulfil their responsibilities in preparing meals and so on.”

At the time of writing (February 28), the Selangor State government has yet to decide on the working hours for female civil servants during Ramadhan if they were allowed to leave early.

The Negeri Sembilan state government, on the other hand, allows female civil servants to leave work at 2 PM every Friday during Ramadhan, reported Kosmo.

In case you didn’t know, the working arrangements for civil servants during Ramadhan differ for every state. The ultimate decision falls on the state government.

Do you think the same leniency should be extended to those in the private sector?
