Starbucks Malaysia operator Berjaya Food Bhd (BFood) reported a net loss of RM91.5 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, compared to a net profit of RM103.4 million in the previous year, due to consumer boycotts and losses.

Just recently, word has it that over 100 outlets of Starbucks in Malaysia have closed their doors due to the ongoing boycott movements. While we can’t deny the decrease in crowds at many outlets, has Starbucks Malaysia bode farewell to over 100 outlets in the country?

In a response from Starbucks Malaysia, the organization has DENIED the closure allegations.

Starbucks Malaysia confirmed that the claim of the closures is nothing but a hoax, as reported by Berita Harian.

“While we have ceased operations at only a few stores, the closures at MOST of the locations are only temporary.”

He stated that the temporary closures are part of an ongoing assessment, allowing them to align their positions more strategically without losing jobs.

“Rest assured that no employees have been affected due to permanent or temporary closures, as they have been reassigned to nearby stores to continue serving our customers smoothly,” said the Starbucks representative.

What do you think of Starbuck’s crowds?
