This is the sort of nightmare you don’t want coming true, and a married couple in Terengganu recently had to face deadly slithering reptiles in the comfort of their house.

The couple had a deadly encounter with not one, not two, but eight baby cobras in their kitchen.

29-year-old Muhammad Aslam Husseini Mohd Taufik noticed the presence of the baby snake in his kitchen, which was near his feet. Aslam initially did not know that it was a baby cobra and thought it was just a regular, non-venomous snake. He immediately killed it by hitting it before disposing of the carcass.

Little did he know, more baby cobras were headed his way.

When Aslam was cooking on the same evening, he found five more baby cobras behind the kitchen door. This time, the man contacted the state Civil Defence Force (APM) for help, and they deployed officers to their house in Kampung Banggol Katong to remove the reptiles.

Aslam found more baby cobras after the officers left

Three hours after APM officers left, the man found two more baby cobras hidden amidst the kitchen items.

He called the APM officers again to have the deadly animals removed, which took them about 20 minutes to do so, but Aslam was still concerned for his wife’s safety as she’s currently six months pregnant.

Aslam contacted his father-in-law to bring his wife home for the time being, out of concern for her safety. He also said that that was his first encounter with the snakes since he first rented the house 2 years ago.

Nor Dahlia Razelan, one of the APM officers, said the removals were conducted at 5:15 PM and 8:20 PM.

“The reptiles were small but deadly, especially with his pregnant wife at home.”

The baby cobras were handed to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) for further action, reported Berita Al-Hijrah.

The reptiles can appear unexpectedly anywhere and at any time. According to APM, they captured over 3,000 snakes in the first 4 months of 2025.
