For many children, the highlight of the Lunar New Year is definitely getting ang paus. However, one might question if children would know how to manage their own finances.

So at the end of the day, parents are the ones who take care of it for them until they come of age.

Recently, a pair of twins in Jiangsu, China sued their father for taking their ang pau money.

According to China News Weekly, Zhou and his wife Wu, had a pair of twins after they got married. A while after, both of them divorced and the twins are under the custody of their mother, Wu.

On 26 January 2020, Zhou, who is still a guardian of his teen twins, took 16,800 yuan (RM10,613) of their ang pau money.

As it is rightfully the teens’ money, they repeatedly asked their father to return their money but he refused every single time.

So, both of them sued Zhou in court, asking him to return the money. The People’s Court of Pizhou City in Jiangsu ruled that Zhou will need to return 8,000 yuan (RM5,054) and 8,800 yuan (RM5,559), totalling at 16,800 yuan (RM10,613) to his children.

He will need to pay this sum back within 15 days after the judgement was made.

Well, this will certainly teach the father to not take his children’s belongings anymore.
