A video of an Indian tourist at a popular attraction in Thailand has gone viral after a tiger suddenly got aggressive when he tried to take a photo with it.
The clip, shared by an X user, shows the tourist walking next to the tiger while holding onto the chain around its neck before crouching down to snap a photo at Tiger Kingdom in Phuket.
The tiger turned aggressive and mauled him
An animal handler was seen nearby, later tapping the tiger with a stick to signal it to sit next to the tourist, before proceeding to pose for a photo.
But things took a turn when the tiger suddenly attacked the tourist, leaving him screaming and shaking as it pinned him to the ground.
According to the user’s reply in the comments section, the tourist was allegedly lucky to escape with only minor injuries.
The post reads,
“Apparently an Indian man attacked by a tiger in Thailand. This is one of those places where they keep tigers like pets and people can take selfies, feed them etc, etc.”
Many call for stronger animal welfare enforcement
Critics have long voiced concerns about tiger attractions in Thailand, accusing them of exploiting the animals for profit while ignoring their natural behaviours, according to Harian Metro.
The viral video has reignited these fears, sparking fresh calls for tougher regulations and stronger enforcement of animal welfare laws.
The video has also caught the attention of many netizens, who pointed out that the tiger likely didn’t like being touched on its lower back, especially by strangers.
Netizens started flooding the comment section with their thoughts and reactions.
